Rock Climbing

"The bucket up and on your left," "go ahead and climb, I've got you," "it's only a 15 minute approach from the parking area," "the crack is a great rest," "that's me, please lower," etc.  These are all phrases I love hearing.  They are the phrases uttered during a great day of climbing.

However, how many times have you found yourself making U-turns because the directions you have been given completely contradict the map that corresponds; walking through the woods looking for "trail markers" that no longer exist; or staring blankly at a cliff looking for the route that everyone says you "have to climb", but can't recognize it by the single sentence description in your book?   Obviously, this has happened us (unfortunately more than once).  If you can't find it or brought the wrong gear, you can't climb it.

We have put this page together to focus on maximizing your climbing time, not practicing your orienteering skills (although there has got to be a web site for that, too).  Some may say that we are taking the adventure out of climbing by providing you access to too much information.  To this we retort:   Climbing as a single entity has plenty of adventure, we just want to climb.  I do not want anyone to climb unprepared.  Bring the right equipment and have the right knowledge.

(Sorry for the diatribe.  I am off of my soapbox.  Now onto the good stuff. - MTG)

In Locations you will find descriptions of the climbing area, driving directions, cliff and route maps (whenever available), run descriptions and commentary.  Use this information to plan your next climbing trip in the area of your choice.  We will be updating this site as frequently as possible.  Please check again soon.

In Tips and Information you will find various top roping and sport climbing equipment lists, climbing techniques that have made a difference in our climbing efficiency, and links to references other than this page that we feel are a must for new climbers.

I hate to do this but as with every climbing page here is the mandatory legal disclaimer:carder2.gif (28588 bytes)Guillotine.gif (7878 bytes)
